Stress impacts us in many ways and there are many stress symptoms that become apparent over time. Some stress symptoms are physical, others are emotional and some are also psychological.
The stress symptoms that are physical can include, but are not limited to:
- Digestive problems, eg IBS, ulcers
- Grinding teeth
- Tight stiff muscles
These symptoms may occur on a daily basis or on a regular basis.
We would encourage you to monitor the frequency of your physical stress symptoms and if you do experience them frequently, then we would recommend professional advice on how to deal with work stress.
Emotional symptoms of stress can be different for different people.
Typically when we are experiencing stress we may feel anxious, depressed, low, a sense of hopelessness – having thoughts like: “It doesn’t matter what I do, things won’t ever change”.
The psychological symptoms of stress are varied and are ones that affect our mind.
Consequently you may experience poor concentration, forgetfulness, less creative/intuitive and negative thinking.
If you are experiencing any of the above stress symptoms and are worried about what you can do to reduce your experience of stress, we would recommend seeking the advice of a professional, eg your HR manager, GP.
At One are available to offer practical advice on how you can deal with work stress, so that it impacts positively on you and your workforce. So kick start your office and choose from a one hour workshop, 2 hour session or a full day of learning.
